About The LBAPD

The Long Beach Auxiliary Police is an organization composed of civilian volunteers.

Auxiliary Police officers have come from all corners of the community including doctors, lawyers, local business owners, housewives, educators and students.

Our function is to aid, augment, and assist the Long Beach Police Department. The principal aid offered by the Auxiliary Police is to provide additional eyes and ears for the police department, to serve as a visible deterrent and to assist the police department whenever needed.

LBAPD Memorial Day 2007

Membership in the Auxiliary Police affords citizens the opportunity to study police work, learn police objectives and goals, and thereafter, assist the Long Beach Police Department in it’s efforts to police The City of Long Beach.

As a forerunner to many of today’s Community Policing programs, this program develops mutual respect and understanding between the police and the people they serve, promotes and atmosphere conducive to greater public cooperation and, as a consequence leads to greater police effectiveness.
