The
Long Beach Auxiliary Police Gun Club is open to members in good standing after completing at least one year of probation. Members must also obtain a Nassau County
pistol permit.
The Gun Club meets on Wednesday nights at the Long Beach Police Pistol Range.
Lt. Geller and Sgt. Santos are our Range Safety Officers.
The Gun Club practices standard shooting skills, gun safety, and defensive shooting. We also offer basic safety and shooting instruction for beginners.
Safety is our primary concern. In over fifty years of service, the LBAPD has maintained a
PERFECT record of safety. Before ANY member is allowed to participate in any shooting activities, they are required to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of gun safety.
All Gun Club members must pass qualifications at least once a year. These are the same qualifications that the police department must pass. The qualifications
measure accuracy, timed accuracy, shooting from the hip, left and right handed shooting, and extended shooting including reloading.
The LBAPD Gun Club is proud to have senior officers that are
NRA Certified Firearms Instructors. Some of our Officers are also
Glock Certified Armorers.
Whenever possible, the LBAPD Gun Club coordinates training with the
National Rifle Association and
Glock Inc. to offer both Gun Safety Certification, and Glock Armorer Certification to any members that are interested.
ALWAYS REMEMBER, SAFETY FIRST!
RULE #1: THE GUN IS ALWAYS LOADED.
RULE #2: AFTER YOU HAVE VERIFIED THE GUN IS UNLOADED,
GO TO RULE #1!
