The start of the fun and exciting summer season in Long Beach kickstarts with the 35th annual City Manager’s Manager’s 10-Mile Trophy Run, “A Salute to Our Veterans,” on Sunday, May 29th at 8:00 a.m.
One of the biggest on-road events on the Long Beach calendar, the City Manager’s Race requires all of the Auxiliary Police resources. The race crosses over 60 intersections as hundreds of runners traverse the City streets and boardwalk.
We expect many runners and supportive spectators throughout the course.
Early registration fee will be $20 before Friday, May 27th at 5:00 p.m. at the Long Beach Recreation Center on Magnolia Blvd. at West Bay Drive. Late registration will take place at the Long Beach Ice Arena at 150 West Bay Drive, next to the Recreation Center beginning at 6:30 a.m. You can also register online at www.active.com .
This is an “all-hands event” for the Auxiliary Police who will be safeguarding the runners while providing vehicular traffic and pedestrian control.
Muster will be at 7AM at Long Beach Police Department Headquarters. Officers should note their availability on the Duty Board.




The annual Snowflake Run will be held on February 5, 2011 at 8:30 AM and is the last Long Beach run until Labor Day.
Avenue to Riverside Boulevard and then North to the MLK Center at 615 Riverside Boulevard where a celebration honoring Dr. King followed.
A Long Beach tradition, the Turkey Trot is the last run of the fall season. Starting out on the the boardwalk, the Turkey Trot is actually two races in one. The first race is a one mile shortened version for kids. It is followed by the 10k run for adults. Winners will go home with Thanksgiving turkeys!
The Fall Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 9 and 10 from 10AM to 4PM at Kennedy Plaza on Park Avenue and National Boulevard.
The annual Ancient Order of Hibernians Irish Day and Parade began at Washington Boulevard at 12:00 noon and proceeded all the way down to the West End where the street fair was held. There was fun for the entire family with rides and delicious food. There were many tables selling handmade, eclectic, Irish and one-of-a-kind wares.
