Every summer the City of Long Beach brings on a team of Summer Special officers to help during the busiest season of the year. Many of these Specials are new to our City and new to the tremendous job at hand. Long Beach Police Department Leuitenant Tangney gives a thorough and dedicated training to this team. This year Lt. Tangney offered to restructure this training in order to open it to all Auxiliary Police officers. Lt. Tangney is an amazing instructor and the unit welcomes his invitation. The training is open to all uniform and probationary officers- and everyone is strongly urged to attend. Additional details will be posted as the date nears.

We had the honor of recognizing two of our officers whose diligent observations, textbook response and effective communication with the Long Beach Police Department regarding suspicious activities led to a successful arrest. Three Long Beach Auxiliary Police officers will be among the latest graduating class of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police Academy. This intensive and impressive training spans 26 weeks and offers phenominal resources, experience and training. Long Beach Auxiliary Police will be attending as a unit to both congratulate our members and meet and chat with our brethren in the County. Family and friends of the graduates are always welcome to attend. The ceremony will be followed by a stop at a restaurant for a celebratory meal.

A job well done and an amazing representation of and testament to the high standards that the Long Beach Auxiliary Police Department has maintained for over 50 years!
