5th Annual Sean Ryan Memorial Run - June 27, 2009

The 5th Annual Sean Ryan Memorial 5K Family Fun Run will take place on Saturday, June 27th at 8:30 a.m., beginning at the Riverside Blvd. and the Boardwalk.   It will also include a 1K Children’s Fun Run on the Boardwalk at 8:00 a.m.

The race is in honor of the late Long Beach Police Officer Sean Ryan.

When the City sponsors a lengthy race in our narrow city that means that a lot of intersections will need to be monitored and shut down to protect the runners from vehicular traffic.  This can easily require that over sixty intersections be covered.  To insure runner safety and be prepared to meet the demands of widely-dispersed runners we require a strong showing of Auxiliary officers.

Auxiliary Police beefs up patrols for the summer!

Due to the increased summer activities and events through our great city, the Long Beach Auxiliary Police will commence Summer Saturday patrols on June 6, 2009.

The Thursday night patrol will begin on that night and all the following Saturdays will be covered by the patrol nights in sequence.  Please make sure that you check the Summer Sunday Patrol schedule located in the page link in the upper left of this web page!  If you are not available for your scheduled patrol, alert your patrol command as soon as possible and see if you can help out on another Saturday.

Antique Car Show- Rescheduled for May 31, 2009

Due to the major fire of May 17, 2009 the Antique Car Show was canceled for that day.  Luckily it has been rescheduled!

Car enthusiasts from all over Nassau County will be converging on Kennedy Plaza in front of City Hall for the Antique Car Show.  The all-day event starts at 10:00 AM.  Beautiful cars of yesteryear will be on display and their owners will be available to answer any questions.  This is a free event!

The Long Beach Auxiliary Police will be assisting with light traffic control and pedestrian safety.  For those officers interested in participating in this event, please muster at Auxiliary Headquarters at 9:00 AM.

Memorial Day Parade - May 25, 2009

Long Beach is known for one of the largest and finest Memorial Day parades in all of New York.  The pride of our community is also some of the finest around and the streets are filled with our neighbors who show their support and thanks to those who volunteer their services and in some cases regrettably their lives to keep us all safe.  Marching from the West End to City Hall are many community service providers, organizations, schools and our public service and safety providers.

For the Long Beach Auxiliary Police, this is one of our largest events.  Muster is at 8:00 AM at Long Beach Police Department headquarters. Dress for the day is Class “A” uniform as we will be not only performing traffic and crowd control, but will be marching in the parade as well.

We’ll be taking our annual department picture in front of police headquarters immediately after the parade.

This is an ALL HANDS event.  If any officer needs Class A uniform items, they must alert their Sargeant immediately. Please sign up on the Duty Board at Auxiliary HQ.

Annual City Manager’s Race - May 24, 2009

You know that the busy summer season in Long Beach is upon us when we ready ourselves for the City Manager’s Race.  One of the biggest on-road events on the Long Beach calendar, the City Manager’s Race will require all of the Auxiliary Police resources.  The race will require many intersections to be closed as hundreds of runners traverse the City streets and boardwalk.

This is an ALL HANDS event.

Muster will be at 7:00 AM at Long Beach Police Headquarters.
