Car enthusiasts from all over Nassau County will be converging on Kennedy Plaza in front of City Hall for the Antique Car Show. The all-day event starts at 10:00 AM. Beautiful cars of yesteryear will be on display and their owners will be available to answer any questions. This is a free event!
The Long Beach Auxiliary Police will be assisting with light traffic control and pedestrian safety. For those officers interested in participating in this event, please muster at Auxiliary Headquarters at 9:00 AM.
Every summer the City of Long Beach brings on a team of Summer Special officers to help during the busiest season of the year. Many of these Specials are new to our City and new to the tremendous job at hand. Long Beach Police Department Leuitenant Tangney gives a thorough and dedicated training to this team. This year Lt. Tangney offered to restructure this training in order to open it to all Auxiliary Police officers. Lt. Tangney is an amazing instructor and the unit welcomes his invitation. The training is open to all uniform and probationary officers- and everyone is strongly urged to attend. Additional details will be posted as the date nears.
All uniformed a
nd probationary officers are urged to attend the general meeting. The very busy summer season if fast approaching and it will be important for us to go over the upcoming events and officer trainings. The meeting will sharp promptly at 11:00 AM and will end with lunch. This is a plain-clothes event. If you will not attend, you must notify your Sergeant.
The proud Li
ttle Leaguers, their family and supporters will be marching through the streets of Long Beach just in time for a fun and busy playing season. The participants will be marching along Park Avenue to the Lindell School. It is a fun event in which our local kids get to have the City stop the traffic to recognize them and show them our support. As this is a parade, it will require the monitoring and closing of many intersections throughout the event. It is important that we have a strong showing of officers to assist with this event. After a slow special-event season, this event will serve as a good refresher for most officers and a valuable training for those who recently got into uniform. Please see the duty board at headquarters for muster information.
On Good Friday the parishners and clergy
of St. Mary of the Isle on East Park Avenue and Monroe Boulevard will be commemorating this holy event by recreating the Stations of the Cross. The procession will start off on the corner of the Church property, heading East on Park Avenue, South on Lincoln Boulevard and then West back to the church. This is an incredible and important event to behold. As the Stations of the Cross will affect traffic on and around our busiest roadway, a good showing of officers will be required. Further details regarding this assignment will be posted on the duty board at Auxiliary Headquarters.
