Middle School D.A.R.E. Graduation 6/4/2008

We’ll need two or more members to escort the D.A.R.E. program essay winners in a limo from their homes to the graduation ceremony at the middle school. There are eight graduates that will be picked up from Point Lookout to East Atlantic Beach.

Muster will be at 7:30am on Wednesday, June 4th. We will need to be in front of the school to meet the limo and the principal by 8am sharp. Please sign up on the main board at Headquarters if available.

D.A.R.E. Graduation Thursday, May 29th 2008

Another class of Long Beach students will be graduating the D.A.R.E. program on Thursday, May 29th. As usual, a limo will be picking up the winning essayists at their homes and driving them to school. We will be escorting the limo and winners.

Muster is 7:30am at Aux headquarters and officers should arrive in front of the school by 8am to meet the principal and limo. Please sign your name up on the board at headquarters if you’re able to attend this event.

2008 Summer Beach Passes Now Available!

The Long Beach Recreation center has started issuing the 2008 summer beach passes. All members of the department are given a free family beach pass as a thank you from the recreation center.

Please pick up your pass at the recreation center outdoor office next to the playground at the rec center at the north end of Magnolia Blvd. There is a list with all members names. ID will be required at the time of pickup.

Please let other members you speak to know that the beach passes are available. If you see Joe Brand (Head of the recreation department) offer him a big thank you and let him know we appreciate his generosity.

Memorial Day Parade 5-26-2008

The annual Long Beach Memorial Day Parade kicks off on Monday, May 26th. Muster time is 8:30am at regular headquarters. Dress for the day is Class “A” uniform as we will be not only performing traffic and crowd control, but marching in the parade as well.

We’ll be taking our annual department picture in front of police headquarters immediately after the parade.

As always, this is a very busy weekend for us, so everyone that is available is asked to attend.

City Manager’s 10 Mile Run 5-25-2008

This is the biggest race of the year in Long Beach. There are over 40 traffic posts that need to be covered. We’ll need all hands on deck for this one. We will be working with the summer specials. The Boyscouts will be coming out to help as well with their senior members and leadership.
